Did you know that not all rhinoplasty’s are created equal?

Although it might seem that the cosmetic procedure on your nose will always remain a procedure on your nose, there are many different ways to go about it (hey, some Rhinoplasty’s aren’t even surgeries anymore!)

Rhinoplasty is actually one of the oldest “operations” known to man, spanning as far back as the ancient Egyptian time period. Females would often try to elongate their noses as a status symbol. Whereas now this takes from coast to coast, from San Diego (CA) to Charlotte Rhinoplasty (NC).

However, let’s break down the different types:

Open Rhinoplasty

Here, incisions are made on that little part of your skin that separates the nostrils – called the columella. This piece of flab is then lifted so that the surgeon can reshape everything from the front. This procedure is fairly common as far as a nose job goes

Closed Rhinoplasty

Here, the surgeon will make an incision from inside your nose. This allows for the bone and cartilage to separate, which actually exposes your bone! Of course, everything is easier to reshape in this scenario because everything can be seen visibly. This type is used primarily for smaller procedures.

Filler Rhinoplasty

In this procedure, injections of fillers are made in order to shape and mold the nose, restoring symmetry or “correcting” any other element. As you may deduce, this procedure isn’t actually a surgery at all! It is a procedure, but there is a trade off: results are not permenant, and you will need to come back in the future for more work

Ethnic Rhinoplasty

Ethnic Rhinoplasty involved an enhancement of an ethnically natural nose, such as the nose of a black or Hispanic woman. This is similar to a Brazilian butt lift in concept. This surgery is growing in popularity as we all move to embrace who we are as individual (yes, that statement is ironic).
